EMDR & IFS Informed EMDR Therapy
The EMDR approach believes past emotionally-charged experiences are overly influencing your present emotions, sensations, and thoughts about yourself. As an example: “Do you ever feel worthless although you know you are a worthwhile person?”
EMDR uses rapid sets of eye movements or other BLS to help you update disturbing experiences and allow you to store these memories in a more adaptive way.

EMDR can be provided as your primary form of therapy, as an adjunctive therapy in combination with your current talk therapist, or intensively in multi-hour sessions.
IFS Informed EMDR
IFS informed EMDR integrates two evidence practices: Internal Family Systems (IFS) which is considered a nonjudgemental therapy to address different "parts" of self and identifies each person as a system of parts and helps to identify and support harmony within the system and concepts like self compassion and curiosity. EMDR: a trauma approach that utilizes bilateral stimulation to decrease emotional distress around distressing events and situations.
With IFS informed EMDR, we focus less on the event and more on the parts and how they are impacting you and bringing awareness to the parts that may contribute to you feeling "stuck" in traditional EMDR.
IFS informed EMDR, supports individuals with a history of complex PTSD, Disassociation, and strong feelings or parts related to protection. It can also be seen as a gentler approach compared to standard protocol as it allows for your system of parts to lead progress and work through their concerns before desensitization begins.
My Approach
Based on your goals, needs, and history, together we will build a target plan that addresses what you want to focus on at a pace that feels tolerable and approachable for you. You and your parts are the guide to our pacing and treatment.
